I was born and raised in India and moved to the United States in 1991. While completing my Bachelors Degree in English Literature from New York, I dabbled in Photography and took some courses on the side. On the very first Black & White course I took, as I watched the Instructor develop the first print I had ever seen in a darkroom, she said, “It’s Magic!” It truly felt like that and it’s a feeling that has stayed with me every time I create something special. It’s why I love photography and feel passionate about it.
I went on to get a Masters degree in Photojournalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and worked at National Geographic Society, Washington, D.C. as a Picture Editor in Communications for four years. It was an amazing experience to be working at a place revered for its photography and to meet and work with some of the photographers there.
When my first son was born in 2001, I decided to take some time off and become a full-time mom. I continued to take photographs and was enthralled to bits taking pictures of tiny hands and feet! My style of photography is very photojournalistic as I love to photograph life as it happens and with children there is no dearth of such moments!
I moved to California in 2007 and now live in the Bay Area with my husband and three kids. When not busy being mom to my three boys, I devote my time to photography and am always learning. Please feel free to contact me for any of your photographic needs or questions. I would love to hear from you.
